Our lockets are a rhodium electroplate over stainless steel with a zinc alloy fill. Rhodium is the world's most expensive precious metal - many of the most expensive consumer items in the world are made from rhodium. It is about as nonreactive as gold and costs six times as much by weight. Rhodium is a silver-white hard metal generally found in platinum ores. In its natural solid state rhodium is far too hard to work, so it is used in an alloy smelted with platinum and palladium. It is extremely bright in appearance, highly reflective and very hard and durable. Rhodium will last a very long time and can be easily cleaned with a very gentle soap and water.
These lockets have a special clasp on the side so little hands won't try to keep opening them. Because of this, not all charms will fit. Please contact me with questions prior to ordering.
